Set Up pma-voice Voice Chat in FiveM
How to install pma-voice and set up audio
Voice is the foundation of communication in RP servers. pma-voice is currently considered the best and most stable system.
- 1Step 1
Download pma-voice
Download the latest version of pma-voice script from the official GitHub.
- 2Step 2
Install and Start
Place the folder in resources and add 'ensure pma-voice' to server.cfg. Ensure no other voice scripts are running.
# server.cfg ensure pma-voice setr voice_useNativeAudio true setr voice_useSendingRangeOnly true setr voice_defaultCycle "F11" - 3Step 3
Config Distances
You can adjust voice ranges (whisper, normal, shout) in config.lua to suit your server.
- 4Step 4
Enable Radio
If using a radio, ensure it is compatible with pma-voice (like rp-radio) and start it after pma-voice.
Voice Troubleshooting
- Ensure players have Voice Chat enabled in their game settings.
- Use Mumble-VoIP as an alternative if issues persist, but pma-voice is superior.
- Ensure the server uses recent Artifacts to support new audio tech.
- Ask players to check their default microphone in Windows.
Frequently asked questions
Players cannot hear each other. What should I check?
Voice chat must be enabled in the FiveM audio settings with the right microphone, pma-voice must start before scripts that use it, and OneSync must be on. Check the console for pma-voice errors on start.
Does pma-voice need OneSync?
Yes. pma-voice relies on OneSync, so set onesync on in server.cfg or through txAdmin before you start it.
How do players change their talking range?
By pressing the cycle key, F11 by default, which switches between whisper, normal and shout. Change the key with the voice_defaultCycle setting.
How do I add a radio?
pma-voice provides the radio channels; you add a radio item or menu script that calls its exports to join a channel. Many frameworks already include such a radio.
